Vlasis Oikonomou, Dr. joined Foundation JIN in 2009. He worked as an intern to the Ministry of Economics in the Netherlands, in the carboncredits.nl team that is the Dutch subsidy organization for the CO2 reduction projects. After his studies, he worked as a Junior Researcher in Copernicus Institute, University of Utrecht, where he participated, among others in an EU SAVE project, called "White and Green" that deals with the certificate mechanisms for climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energy. He was appointed as the Dutch expert on the White Certificates team of the International Energy Agency/ Demand Side Management program and is participating on the International Energy Agency/ Demand Side Management program on Micro demand response and energy saving. He has acquired his PhD in the University of Groningen, focusing on the interactions of White Certificates with other market policy instruments in the EU and has several publications on international journals and conferences. He is coordinating the EU FP7 funded APRAISE (Assessment of policy interrelationships and impacts on sustainability in Europe) project, the EU FP7 POLIMP (Mobilizing and transferring knowledge on post 2012 climate policy implications) project, and the EC Intelligent Energy Europe 'ENSPOL' (Energy Saving Policies and Energy Efficiency Obligations schemes) project. He is also researcher in the Horizon 2020 CARISMA (Coordination and Assessment of research and innovation in support of climate mitigation actions) and TRANSSRISK (Transition pathways and risk analysis for climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies) projects. He speaks English, French, Dutch, German, Spanish and Greek (native).
